Ik ben te lui om een compleet verhaal te schrijven, gelukkig heb ik wat foto's gemaakt: - 23-8, Tallinn, Estland: langs op een legale shooting range om wat luidruchtige handwapens te testen. Men schijnt er de grootste (meest diverse) collectie van Europa te hebben. Het idee om erheen te gaan was van reisgenoot Mario, en we besloten in de ochtend om er maar 'gewoon' met zijn allen naartoe te gaan. 's Avonds naar Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
- 24-8, Tallinn - Parnu, Estland: rondgelopen in de oude stad van Tallinn, vervolgens op het strand van vakantiedorp Parnu (aan de Baltische Zee) rondgekeken.
- 25-8, Riga, Letland: tour met gids door oude stad van Riga. Daarna Sushi gegeten op een plek waar ze ook vreemde/goede milkshakes hadden. Vervolgens Conan The Barbarian in de bios.
- 26-8, Siauliai - Vilnius, Litouwen: de Hill of Crosses bezocht (Heuvel van Kruizen); een bedevaartsoord waar mensen kruizen achterlaten voor goed geluk, of ter nagedachtenis aan iemand. Daarna door naar Vilnius, om 's avonds Crazy, Stupid, Love in de bios te bezichtigen.
- 27-8, Vilnius, Litouwen: rondgelopen in de oude stad, waar we een stuk of 20 kerken zagen. Ambermuseum/winkel bezocht, daarna met bus naar Trakai om een wesp op een Pepsi flesje te fotograferen.

| 2011-06-07 15:45 | Solution: iPhone iOS 5 Beta: activation server temporarily unavailable | direct link | | So.. if you're running into the problem when updating your iPhone to iOS 5 Beta on which your phone is saying something along the lines of "can't update device, activation server temporarily unavailable", the problem might be you haven't added this device (in my case, a 'new' iPhone 4) to the devices in your developer account. At this point, iTunes won't provide you with the UDID. Fortunately, you can get the UDID by starting a diagnostic of the device (iTunes -> Help -> Run Diagnostics). This starts a DOS window, mentioning something along the lines of: 2011-06-07 15:17:52.650 syncli.exe[5380:1afc] setting one shot sync group for client com.apple.MobileSync.<UDID>
2011-06-07 15:17:52.900 syncli.exe[5380:1afc] no registered client com.apple.MobileSync.<UDID>
You can then (quickly) copy/paste this, and use it to register the device in the Dev center under Devices (http://developer.apple.com/ios/manage/devices/index.action). After waiting several minutes, you should be able to complete the activation process. Also, after rebooting and restoring, the phone might want to log in using your Apple ID. If this fails, just retry from the first step, and use 'skip this step'.

| 2011-05-23 08:00 | VMWare Converter: Server 2008 R2 64bit error 2147754754 (0x80042302) solution | direct link | | This weekend I was testing a VMWare conversion of an existing physical Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit machine into ESX. I was getting the error: FAILED: Unable to create a VSS snapshot of the source volume(s). Error code: 2147754754 (0x80042302).
In the Windows event logs the following errors were logged: Event ID 8193: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x80040154, Class not registered Event ID 22: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: A critical component required by the Volume Shadow Copy service is not registered. This might happened if an error occurred during Windows setup or during installation of a Shadow Copy provider. The error returned from CoCreateInstance on class with CLSID {e579ab5f-1cc4-44b4-bed9-de0991ff0623} and Name IVssCoordinatorEx2 is [0x80040154, Class not registered].
Finally, thanks to this blog entry, I was pointed at the solution: install the newest version (or at least, version 4.3). This solved the problem for me. |

I kept running into an OLE error 80131902. Unfortunately, no solutions where available on the internets. I finally figured it out; there was an error in the config file for the calling application (in app.exe.config). After correcting this, the application ran correctly again. In my case, the error was caused by an appSettings section before the configSections section.

Dit is nodig aangezien we in de nabije toekomst verder uit gaan breiden, met meer VMWare ESX servers.
